When you go out to a restaurant, there are several things you may be looking for.
Some of the most common are a friendly atmosphere, fresh food, and good service.
Dos Hermanos II in Fairmont aims to offer all of that.
"What our goal is to offer smiles from the beginning all of the way to the end of the restaurant. We want 100 percent satisfaction, great times, and just to have fun," said Mike Carkin, co-owner.
Dos Hermanos II is one of two restaurants owned by two brothers.
The original Dos Hermanos is located in New Martinsville.
"We were searching for a new location to open another one. We have very good business right now and good support at the first one," said Donato Turcios, co-owner. "We searched for different places and we found this one. We like it."
Its customers like it, too.
They said it's different from other Mexicans restaurants for several reasons.
"The things I like the most are the freshness of the food, the ability to walk in and feel as if you're welcome because they know you personally, and not too much cheese," said Don Tobin, customer.
When I asked about the restaurant's biggest seller, the answer was instant.
"Everything on the grill. We have grilled fajitas, burritos, grilled steak. The especial de la cucina is grilled too," Turcios said. "All of the grilled stuff, they love it.
"The ACM, I would think. It is shrimp and steak served over rice. That's a very popular item," Carkin said.
Regular customers said they never leave the restaurant disappointed.
"I was stationed in Texas. I'm a retired military officer and I've really learned to appreciate Mexican food down there. One thing I like is that they don't over cheese the food," Tobin said.
Dos Hermanos II said it really prides itself on its great service and its bold flavors.
"Our menu is good. The food is a little different. It tastes better," Turcios said.
"Bold flavors. That's one of our major selling points. We have really bold tastes and they are different then other Mexican restaurants," Carkin agreed.
So why should you give Dos Hermanos II a try?
"When you come in here, they are very friendly and very opening. We are developing a relationship with the owner so he kind of knows when we walk in now. It's very family oriented. I bring my wife here," Tobin said.
You'll find Dos Hermanos II next to the Big Lots on Country Club Road in Fairmont. The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday from 11 a.m.?to 9 p.m.
